Funtainment at WAZOBIA Food And Drink Festival

This year’s edition of the WAZOBIA Food and Drink Festival, also known as chock mouth, is a testament of the youthful zeal of the leading Pidgin English family Radio station’s objective of revolutionising the lifestyle of listeners, customers and Nigerian families.

The festival, powered by WAZOBIA 95.1 FM, Lagos with the theme ‘Come Chop’ held in Lekki, admitted only registered fans, stakeholders, sponsors, comedians and on-line audience due to strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.

High point of the festival was the cooking competition, where 10 selected contestants had to slug it out to impress the judges that include Chef Segun Aboyinu of Bukka Hut; Samuel Ojeifo, Power Oil Health camp coordinator; Mor Okokwe, CEO Mo’s Grill Kitchen and food and media expert, Uzo Ododo-Oba.

Comedians Hyenana and Josh Too Funny made day beautiful for the audience as they added comedy to their celebrity cook off contest. The guests include WAZOBIA on air-personalities — Yaw, Papito, Chukwudi (aka husband material), Nkobi, Ada din-din and Seneye (Last Born).

The cuisines include various African and continental foods like Jollof Rice and Chicken, Fried Rice and Chicken, Yam Porridge, Eba and Egusi Soup, White Rice and Curry Sauce, White Rice and Stew, and Spaggetti and Chicken.

On Air Personality, Ratata wowed everyone with his popular Our Lord’s prayer in Benin dialect, while fans like Mama Osa, GMG had the fun of their lives dancing to tunes churned out by DJ General Indo, who electrified the venue with good music. Comedian Solid AC gave a good account of himself, as he lightened the mood of the guests with cracking jokes.

Speaking about the festival, the Programmes Manager, WAZOBIA FM, Uche Nwaneri, described it as a unique event. “As a family station, we give people the platform to express their thoughts, individualities, personalities and still interact with favourite radio hosts and celebrities.

“We provide physical emotional, financial assistance to people using the radio and it’s social media platforms to keep families’ sanity and manage stressful homes,” he said.

Aboyinu noted that the best chefs in the world are the male chefs who want to keep people, particularly families, healthy with a good lifestyle.
